Tag’s opens today from 7 am to 9 pm. The store will be open on weekdays and Saturdays from 7 am to 9 pm and will be closed on Sundays.
Bruce Adams “Tags” is coming along pretty quickly. Work began more than two months ago and today final adjustments are being made to complete the overhaul. If everything is completed on time, Tags will be opening on May 1st. The inside of the store has undergone tremendous change. Black and white checkered floors are the main highlight. However, who could miss the bright yellow walls or the marble-like counter tops? In the back, the in-wall refrigeration system has been removed, replaced by floor standing coolers. The floor plan has increased in size and there are more shelves for foods. Remember the wall of chips on the far side of the store? Floor standing coolers have now been added to this area. So far, only a limited supply of drinks have arrived. Food and other items have not yet been purchased. However, foods and drinks should be arriving this week. There is rumor that Tags will even be selling fresh slices of pizza throughout the day. Recently, the Downhill Deli changed it’s name to “The Deli on Broadway,” with upgrades to floors arriving soon. Maybe they are getting ready for the new competition. Are you ready to buy subs? Tags will be opening on Saturday, May 1st, the store will be open to 9:00 pm and it will be closed on Sundays.
Members on Rensselaer’s Times Union Blog were interested in an updated list of our cities fire alarm signal locations. Below I have posted a link to the new list that I’ve made. Please take notice that some of the buildings that are listed are no longer in existence.
From the Times Union Blog of Steve Barnes:
Red House Pub will open Thursday at 483 Broadway in Rensselaer. The former Rudy’s V&R, the restaurant remains under the ownership of Rudy Berisic and features an Italian menu, but prices have been lowered. Most of the more expensive veal and seafood dishes will be offered only as specials, and dinner entrées now top out at $11.95, including salad and pasta. The restaurant also offers sandwiches, wraps, burgers and pizza. Call 689-0611. Red House Pub is open for lunch and dinner daily. Delivery available.

Over the past five years Daniel Zukowski has owned and operated 12144.com, a web forum and portal where Rensselaer residents could share their concerns and ideas regarding the city. His main objective was to get Rensselaer residents involved in the community, working for progressive change. Some residents shared ideas of change, while others shared thoughts about the future. In many cases the Mayor was bashed for poor leadership and overspending. After many years of fighting for progression Dan has decided to end his involvement in the community and move on in life. On the other hand, Rensselaer Mayor Daniel Dwyer says that he is working for progression through business and retail involvement an establishment within the city. His main project is to revitalize the city by establishing a downtown business district and riverfront walkway, which would eventually link Rensselaer to many neighboring towns. He says that the project would cost nearly 450 million dollars. Dwyer also stated that the project would be great for the city because it would bring in a lot of tax revenues, which in the long run would lower taxes on the residents. However, on the down side low income families would not be able to afford the costs of upscale living in an urban city.
